Your local NHS needs you

Hampshire and Isle of Wight (HIOW) STP is supporting the national campaign to recruit more volunteers to support our patients, healthcare teams and communities during the Coronavirus crisis.

We are proud of the many volunteers already involved in the NHS who are giving something back. If you are in good health and can offer your time, whether it’s a couple of hours or a more regular commitment, we would love to hear from you.

We’ve created a new Facebook page www.facebook.com/NHSHampshireandIsleofWightVolunteering to make it easy for you to see what opportunities are available immediately in our area. We can then put you in touch with the organisation that needs help

The kind of voluntary support we need includes:

  • delivering medicines from pharmacies
  • driving patients to appointments
  • bringing them home from hospital
  • making regular phone calls to check on people isolating at home.

Your safety is paramount, and we’ll ensure that all roles comply with our social distancing and isolation guidance and other checks as required.

NHS England has also launched a national campaign – NHS Volunteer Responders – which you may have read about. Our HIOW volunteering scheme is a locally managed service which also supports this initiative. You can read more about the national campaign here: https://www.goodsamapp.org/NHS

How it works

The HIOW volunteering team are speaking to colleagues across the health and care sector, including hospitals, GP practices and pharmacies and voluntary organisations, and will regularly post what opportunities are available and where.

If you see a role that you know you can help with, please reply to the post and / or contact us directly using the information above. We can then put you in touch with the organisation requiring help.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering and for supporting our NHS.
